Nutshell privacy policy
Nutshell is a personal life tracker: nested todos, calendar, food and calorie logging, health measures, and symptoms, stored offline-first and synced across your devices. This policy explains what information the app handles and how we treat it.
AI
We use AI tools to develop Nutshell. The app also has AI built in. When you dictate or type an entry for the assistant to interpret, that text is sent to a language-model provider (currently OpenAI) so it can be turned into a todo, meal, or measurement. Nothing is sent unless you use that feature. We do not use AI features for advertising.
Information the app uses
- Account details. Email address and sign-in credentials.
- What you track. Todos and their structure, calendar events, meals and calories, health measurements, and symptoms you enter. Some of this is health information.
- Device features you enable. Microphone for voice entry, calendar access to read device events, notifications, and push-notification tokens.
- Device and sync data. A local copy on the device, plus identifiers used to keep devices in sync and avoid conflicts.
How we use it
- Show and organize what you track.
- Keep a local copy so the app works offline.
- Sync changes to your other signed-in devices.
- Send reminders and notifications you have turned on.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use the app for advertising.
Where data is stored
A copy stays on your device. When sync is enabled, data is also stored with our hosting providers, currently Supabase.
Sharing
We share information only with infrastructure providers that process data on our instructions (currently Supabase for sync and Firebase for push notifications), with the language-model provider when you use the AI entry feature, and if required by law. Your data is not shown to other Nutshell users.
Retention
We keep account and synced todos while the account is active. You can delete items in the app. To request deletion of an account, email steve@iteration18.com.
Children
Nutshell is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
